Objectives for any program planning is ever changing because there is improvement day in day out, it can make or break a project. The major thing to consider is the level of learners and the main question is what will the learners use the information for at the end of the activity. The objectives of any program must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely. It can be learning objectives, program objectives or outcome objectives. Program objectives provide what the result of the workshop may or will be. It can be use for matching instruction, transfer -of -learning and evaluation plans(measure the session in general).
In relation to marketing, learning objectives provide a focus for the instructional design, provide steps for choosing course content, help participants to evaluate what they learnt and to organize their learning( It focus on individual participants) .Outcome objectives describe what you want the targeted population to know. They are specific and are highly connected to needs assessment, they are selected to be timely and a mirror that shows progress toward goals. Needs assessment is the basis on which the objectives are built on. Without needs assessment there will not be good and solid objectives. Objectives makes evaluation easier, it shows what has been accomplished and what needs improvement. See you!
Objectives sure are important to the whole process! I find when I get in keynote speakers I give input as to what our audience wants but I am relying on them to deliver the content to meet the objectives. This course has made me think how much I need to pay attention to the detail of these objectives.
